You’ve seen them featured at the top of all of the season’s must-haves lists. They’re boots of all kinds, shapes and colors, and the most popular style? The shootie. These work because they’re a transitional shoe hybrid. Top sellers in both warm-weather climates and those waiting for falls leaves to drop, the shoe bootie is the “it” item of the fall season. In the vein of the Cole Haan x Nike collaboration, Nine West has announced plans to work with athletic shoe company New Balance to release a line of “active fashion” footwear. The collaboration is an effort to combine the stylishness of Nine West and the functionality of a New Balance shoe and is slated for release on early 2009. Around 20 different styles will be featured all for under $100.

The scrunchy boot is here for fall! Last fall we seen the skinny boot, which charged into spring, but designers like Mar Jacobs, Givenchy, Balenciaga, and Jill Stuart have all walked a variation of these boots down the runway for their Pre-Fall collections. It’s hard to say yet whether this trend will carry on into next year or if it’s just a one hit wonder.

Kanye West is slated to design a men’s shoe line for legendary fashion house Louis Vuitton.

The rapper has been making fashion headlines lately, as he’s also in talks to design a new womenswear line for fall. West calls himself “the Louis Vuitton Don,” and is often seen in the front row at fashion shows and hobnobbing with fashion power players like French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld.

Hot Weather Horror 3: Blisters 

Those strappy sandals look hot, but a night out in them has left you limping from blisters.

 Prevent It: An ingenious product called Blister Block by Band-Aid keeps even the cutest shoes from rubbing. Foot powder also works in a pinch.

Damage Control: Sanitize a needle with alcohol and pop the blister to let out the fluid. Don’t peel the skin though; apply an antibiotic like Polysporin and cover with a bandage.

Hot Weather Horror 2: Sun-Damaged Polish

After two days in the sun, you pretty pastel nail polish has turned an ugly yellow.

Prevent It: Light pink and beige hues turn yellowish in the sun, to prevent discoloration use a clear top coat formulated to prevent UV rays from altering the color. Also, rub sunscreen over your nails while at the beach.

Damage Control: For a quick fix, remove the top discolored layer of polish with a fine-grain file, then seal with a top coat.
