The first shots of Katie Holmes’ much-anticipated ad campaign for Miu Miu have been released and the actress looks stunningly beautiful in what the company calls a “moment of spectacular drama.”
“Katie Holmes joins the ever-expanding living history of Miu Miu inspirations, vital and modern individuals that shape and alter their surroundings through powerful grace,” said the company’s rep.
Katie’s strong bone structure always photographs well and the sepia tone of the ad delivers a cool, vintage feel. Shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott in New York last November, the ads were inspired by Italian director Fellini, and hoped Katie would appear to be a “luminous icon radiating a sense of mystery and theatricality.”

So which dress did the new First lady choose?
Michelle Obama opted for one-of-a-kind, one shoulder, white Jason Wu gown in ivory silk chiffon with silk organza flowers, Swarovski crystal rhinestones and silver thread embroidery.
The 26 year old, Taiwan-born, New York based Wu has now – overnight — become nothing short of a household name.
The First Lady previously donned one of the designer’s outfits when she appeared on the Barbara Walters’ Special on the year’s most intriguing people episode along with her husband.
The First Lady will also appear on the cover of the March issue of Vogue.

For the upcoming inauguration ceremony on Jan. 20, 2009, fashion designers created amazing sketches of a gown for Michelle Obama. Check out the gowns designed by Betsey Johnson, Badgley Mischka, Monique Lhuillier, Isaac Mizrahi, Carolina Herrera, Karl Lagerfeld (for Chanel), Diane Von Furstenberg, Christian Lacroix, Peter Som and a lot more. So step aside and give it up for Michelle Obama.
My favorite? The stunning black and white gown designed by Oscar de la Renta, but based upon her fashion history, I’m betting she goes with the amethyst Isaac Mizrahi.

Supermodel Carol Alt has long been crediting her gorgeous figure to a raw food diet. The 48-year-old Celebrity Apprentice star is set to launch Raw Essentials, a beauty line that she created exclusively for HSN that will make its debut on Dec. 11.
“This diet has reversed my [prognosis] and all I did was be careful about what I put in and on my body. I couldn’t find anything that was clean to apply on my skin so I decided to come out with my own line. Everything I use in the products are in the same form they were in when found in nature, and haven’t been heated to the point where the molecular structure has been changed.”

Who says that fashion and politics don’t mix? Today, politics are entering the world of fashion. Political phrases and slogans are gracing items of clothing that advertise specific candidates or political issues. Obama made his most recent appearance on the runways of Paris in the Jean-Charles de Castelbajac show. The candidate’s face can be seen on a sporty yellow sequined dress among other pieces.
Some famous fashion designers including Zac Posen, Marc Jacobs, Rag & Bone, Vera Wang and Derek Lam also designed merchandise for Obama’s official online store.

Halle Berry, in a body-hugging black dress, and her special man, model Gabriel Aubry were among stars that helped make Calvin Klein’s 40th anniversary bash a New York Fashion Week moment.
The couple mingled with actor Djimon Hounsou and fashion designer Kimora Lee Simmons at Sunday’s big event atop the High Line, a former elevated rail line that’s been converted to a park on New York City’s west side. Jared Leto chatted up Ethan Hawke and Claire Danes walked hand-in-hand with actor-boyfriend Hugh Dancy.
There was no party more exclusive, which included other A-listers such as Naomi Watts, Martha Stewart, Cynthia Nixon, Kevin Bacon, Rosario Dawson, Brooke Shields and Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour.
